Zinzi, in isiZulu and isiXhosa, means abundance — full of life, growth, and thriving energy. Moya means spirit, soul, or breath of life in several South African languages. Together, Zinzi Moya celebrates a spirit that overflows with joy and possibility.
Kuumba Owl Moya Dolls are one-of-a-kind creations, each with a certificate of authenticity, a name, and a story card. They are lovingly made from rescued offcuts of fabric, lace, trims, beads, and buttons — materials with unknown histories, saved from landfill and given new life.
Each doll is adorned with hand embroidery, crochet, and thoughtful detail. Many are stitched entirely by hand, especially during times when electricity is unavailable. Every doll takes days to complete, becoming a true labour of love.
A tiny South African flag heart is sewn onto each one, honouring the homeland where it was born. This growing project is rooted in purpose — to uplift and support women in rural communities through creativity and shared skill.
Whimsical, soulful, and sustainable, Zinzi Moya is more than a keepsake —
she is a story sewn in thread.
